Marx-Coutelas

WINEMAKER: BRYAN MARX

start reading

Bryan Marx has transformed his family’s winery into an excellent organic domaine since taking over in 2018.

His Marx-Coutelas family bottles are neat, undervalued low-dosage bottles from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that we can drink everyday.

Bryan’s new solo project is called Domaine de Tuileries – focusing on single-parcel Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The wines are aged in barrels in a natural
limestone cave (accessible only via a roadside trap-door) deep underneath one
of the family parcels; they are all absolutely stellar.

All are in organic viticulture or conversion. Some pioneers of respectfully-farmed Champagne are nearby — AR Lenoble (Damery) and Vincent Laval (Cumières) — but Bryan is a pioneer in his small commune of Venteuil, just east of Épernay.
